windows10_logo

Video capture: System sound can now be recorded in screencast

You have asked for it, we have added it! While recording video, in addition to the microphone recording, you can now record the sound from Windows (your sound card). For example if you want to record Skype/Lync meetings: Screenpresso is now able to record the screen, your voice (from the microphone) and the remote speaker’s voice (system sound / What you ear).

Record system sound setting

Video clipping: you can now modify the start and end time

Sometimes, when you start recording a video, you are not fully ready. After video recording session you may want to modify the video start or end time. This is now fully supported in Screenpresso. Simply adjust the start and stop markers in the built-in video editor timeline and preview the result before saving.
Video cropping

2 way synchronizations with Microsoft OneDrive and Google drive

Microsoft OneDrive and Google drive are completely supported, allowing to upload content and share screen captures, video captures or generated documents with others without any third party tool to install.

OneDrive_and_GoogleDrive

The “synchronization” feature of Screenpresso acts as a lightweight Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive client. Sharing a remote folder with other people now allows collaborative work:
if a new image is added remotely, it will be downloaded automatically in your Screenpresso workspace.

OneDrive sync

Quick capture window to work faster

Screenpresso now features a quick capture window displayed at the top of the main screen. This window is nearly invisible since it shows only two 2 lines. Moving mouse over it quickly displays buttons to start a new capture. This tiny window is displayed by default but can be hidden via settings. Its color can also be modified via advanced settings. It can be moved to another X position by drag and dropping it.

Editor enhancements

We have added a new polygon drawing tool and a rotate option on most of the drawing items.

The new tool can be used for example to trace a route on a screen capture:

Hot keys within applications with administrator privileges

Screenpresso doesn’t run with administrator privileges by default so it can’t handle the [Print Screen] shortcut key when a window running with elevated privileges has the focus.

The new release of Screenpresso can now handle this use case if installed in “Program Files” folder. It means that your [Print Screen] hotkey will always work.

This is a feature most other screen capture tools don’t have.

Video capture: Watermark your videos

You can add a watermark during video capture. Like a tattoo, your signature can’t be removed from your video.
Watermark for video

New color picker

We have added a new color picker tool to quickly get RGB/Hexa value of the color right under your mouse cursor.

User manual generation in Screenpresso (video)

In this video tutorial you will learn how to generate PDF files with screenshots and text using Screenpresso “user manual generator” feature.

Transcript

Hi.
Welcome in this Screenpresso tutorial.

You might need to explain some friends or end users how to use a feature of a software. For instance, today I’d like to explain how to change sleep mode of Windows. First I will take some screenshots then associate some texts to them to generate a user manual. Using Screenpresso it will be easy and quick.

So, let’s take the screenshots first.
I want the user to open the startup menu. Now I press Print Screen key to perform the capture. I draw the region to capture, then release the mouse button. Now I want the user to go to Settings window. I can press the Print Screen key again or use the Screenpresso toolbar. As you might see, Screenpresso detects the window so instead of drawing the region to capture, I can perfom a single click. Now I want the user to go to Power and Sleep so I take a capture again. I can use the “Screenshot previous region” to request Screenpresso to capture the same area than my previous screenshot.

Now I have my screenshots, let’s generate the user manual.
I select them then click the “New document”. I can set a title to my user manual. I can change the order of my screenshots and double-click on them to add some texts and annotations. Save, then go to the second screenshot. Highlight the button to be clicked. Save. And finally the third screenshot. My user manual is almost ready. I can change some advanced settings or document template, then change the output file name and select the output file type. It can be PDF fie, Microsoft Word file, HTML or Animated GIF. Please notice that Screenpresso is a standalone tool. IT does not require Microsoft Word to be installed on the computer to generate the file.

OK, so my file is generated. It is opened automatically and I can find my user manual.
As you might have noticed, I made a typo here and I’d like to fix it. I can open Screenpresso, find my PDF file, double-click on it, double-click on the screenshot, click on the item, and fix my typo. Then save and generate the PDF file again.

Now I have my user manual.
I can drag and drop it or publish it using the built-in features of Screenpresso to send it by e-mail or any Cloud based systems.

  • New shortcuts engine
  • Support for Windows 10 virtual desktops
  • Added a shortcut setting for delayed capture
  • Custom colors are now persisted
  • Added Ctrl+MouseWheel shortcut to workspace for changing thumbnails size

Download it or check for update to get the FREE update:
http://www.screenpresso.com/docs/how_to_update_to_the_latest_version.pdf

New shortcuts engine

When another software registered a shortcut key before Screenpresso (e.g. [Print Screen] key), Screenpresso was failing because of the conflict. In this new version, we reviewed the internal engine and now Screenpresso always takes ownership of the shortcut when it is running. When it exits, it restores the shortcut to the previous owner.

Support for Windows 10 virtual desktops

When you start a capture, Screenpresso automatically detects all visible windows to allow you capturing one of them in just one click. A bug has been fixed and now Screenpresso does not detect anymore windows from other virtual desktops as currently visible.

Added a shortcut setting for delayed capture

Via settings you can now assign a system wild shortcut to start a capture that will starts only after 3 seconds of delay. Delayed capture allows capturing windows that disapear quickly (e.g. tooltips).

Custom colors are now persisted

When you set a custom color anywhere in Screenpresso (e.g. for a drawing item), it is now widely available and persisted even when you restart Screenpresso.

Added Ctrl+MouseWheel shortcut to workspace for changing thumbnails size

When you take a capture, Screenpresso automatically saves it in its workspace and a thumbnail allows to visually retrieve the capture. Now you can hold Control key and use mouse wheel to change the size of these thumbnails.

Others

  • Added shortcut ‘P’ during capture to request an immediate print of the screenshot
  • A changed color picker shortcut during capture from ‘P’ key to ‘O’ key
  • Added an advanced setting to change the opacity of the outbound screen during video recording
  • Working with both Microsoft Word and Screenpresso (video)

In this video tutorial you will learn how to efficiently add screenshots to a Microsoft Word document.

    Transcript

    Hi.
    Welcome in this Screenpresso tutorial.

Today I would like to show you how to use Microsoft Word and Screenpresso together to work efficiently. Let’s say I want to explain my end user how to change power setings of Windows. So first of all I open Microsoft Word and type my text. “Click on Windows’ startup button then open ‘Settings'”. “Click System” button. “In ‘Power and Sleep’, change settings”.

OK, now let’s take some screenshots using Screenpresso.
I open Windows’ startup menu, press the [Print Screen] key to start a capture, draw my region, then release the mouse button. I have my capture and I can go to Microsoft Word then press Control and ‘V’ to paste my screenshot. “Click System button”. Again, [Print Screen] key, one single click, go to Microsoft Word, press Control and ‘V’. Now as you can see the workspace always automatically opens when I take a screenshot. This is anoying today because I want to take many screenshots to paste them in Microsoft Word. What I can do is open settings and ask Screenpresso not to open the workspace. Showing ballon tip only will be enought. So now I can take my screenshot and Screenpresso workspace does not open.

Now what we can see is that my screenshots are quite big. I’d like them to be smaller.
I can change the size using Microsoft Word but I have to do this for all of my captures. Again this is not efficient and I can ask Screenpresso to do this for me. Open settings and ask for the image of every screenshots to be resized. I don’t want to change the size for real, I want to keep the same quality. I just want to ask Microsoft Word to display the images smaller. So I take change only the resolution and I have to take my screenshots again. All right, press [Print Screen] key, select the region, then paste. Again the image is big, why is this? Because here I paste the image from the clipboard which does not support DPI resolution. If I want the resolution to be applied, I need to drag and drop the image from workspace to MS Word. There it’s working. Now how can we avoid this since it is still not very efficient? I can ask Screenpresso to copy inside the clipboard not the image itself but the file path to the image. Let’s take the screenshot again. And this time it’s working, the image is smaller. Now I can work very fast.

Another setting: what I can do is add a watermark to all of my screenshots.
Watermark, yes, configure, add the text, change the position of the text, change color, font, and so on. I take also add a logo. Press OK and OK. Now I can take my screenshot again and paste it inside MS Word. There I have my watermark.

Now let’s say I want the mouse cursor to appear in the screenshot.
I can configure this via settings and check ‘Mouse cursor’. I press the [Print Screen] key and this time as you can see the mouse cursor is in. I capture my region and paste in MS Word, the cursor appears.
